I swear to god I’ll advance the plot at some point. But I have– I mean, Will has been sitting on that dumb worm hole joke ever since Geordi plunged the shuttle into that spatial cavity and oh god why did I say plunged and cavity, Riker will never let that by–

Sometimes I would write ahead on these by a strip or two, mabye get things put together the night before, but a lot of the time I would just get up in the morning on a Monday or Wednesday or Friday and try and knock a strip out from scratch, just absolutely pulling a rabbit out of a hat. And I think that's how a lot of these "this is just a series of jokes that have nothing to do with Star Trek per se" would happen, as I reached for some little tidbit of plot/character content to run with and just got lost along the way.
Not a bad thing, I enjoyed a lot of these random diversions. Just something that really snuck up on me as how the process was going, as I started to write this thing continually over a course of months.
